A Player in Economic Development
The life blood of any community is measured by its growth in economic development, a community’s ability to generate jobs and develop opportunities for its citizens. This is the reason so many state, municipal community and county governments concentrate on finding environmentally clean industries for their area.Armstrong Construction Company is involved in helping shape this economic development opportunity as well. We belong to the Economic Development Foundation of both Lea and Chaves Counties and to the Lovington, Hobbs, and Roswell Chambers of Commerce. We are proud of our leadership role in these activities.
Many, many factors contribute to economic development, not the least of which are highways. Four lane highways and their attendant by-passes are so vital for industry growth, safety, and quality of life issues. Hobbs and Roswell now have four lane highways leading in all directions. When the Hondo Valley $120 million dollar highway project is completed in three years, US 70 will be a four lane corridor from the state line at Clovis on the east to Lordsburg on the westside of the state. Even now Roswell citizens can drive north to Albuquerque without incurring a stop sign or light. Armstrong Construction Company has been a player in all this activity.
Recently, both Roswell and Hobbs have been the centers of economic growth activities. A new Super Wal-Mart and McDonald’s rose from a barren lot in Hobbs two years ago. Likewise a Home Depot, Chili’s and Applebee’s have come into existence. Armstrong Construction is a player. Roswell has been blessed in recent times with a new Home Depot, Super Wal-Mart, numerous hotels and restaurants with more projected for the near future. Chaves County built a new administration center and is remodeling the county courthouse.
The West Second Street rebuild was completed on schedule in June of 2003. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Artesia is expanding. Armstrong Construction is a player.
